Netherlands-based global payment services company Adyen has become a member of the French Bank Card Group GIE Carte Bancaire (CB), France’s national interbank network, to enable its customers to gain access the French card processing specificities.

Merchants using the Adyen payment solution in France can now receive 360° support covering the entire payment chain, including technical, contractual and settlement processes.

By becoming a member of GIE Cartes Bancaire, Adyen can now offer merchants a local payment solution tailored to the specific requirements of the French market. In addition to offering a connection to 87 acquiring partners worldwide, Adyen also acts as an acquirer itself, linking directly to card schemes including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Diners and Union Pay.

In France, the Carte Bancaire scheme uses a closed national network operated and controlled by the GIE Carte Bancaire. This differs from most countries, where card processing is carried out by the international Visa and MasterCard networks for these schemes

Adyen supports all relevant sales channels, including online, mobile and POS, and can process over 200 different payment methods, 187 transaction currencies and 14 settlement currencies used across six continents. Adyen works with many global customers including SoundCloud, Getty Images, Benetton, KLM, PopCap Games, Greenpeace and Vodafone.
