MCB Bank to develop online banking platform for NADRA e-Sahulat in Pakistan

Pakistani financial services provider MCB Bank has signed an agreement with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) in Pakistan to provide an online banking platform for the latters e-Sahulat utility bill payment service.

The NADRA e-Sahulat system allows consumers to register themselves as “franchisees” with NADRA, install the e-Sahulat software on their individual computers and use it to receive utility bills from electricity, water and telephone companies in a centralised online hub. So far, consumers were unable to pay the received bills online, but carried out payments via their prepaid bank accounts, from which they transferred cash to specific NADRA Swift Registration Centres and designated banks.

Under the terms of the deal, MCB is set to develop and deploy an internet banking platform allowing NADRA e-Sahulat subscribers to pay their bills by transferring money online from their bank accounts to NADRA via one of MCB’s 750 online branches.

e-Sahulat allows citizens to pay their utility from anywhere in the country, as well as purchase scratch cards for mobile phones and calling phones.
