PayPal has entered a partnership with Malaysia-based financial services provider RHB Banking Group.

As part of the collaboration, PayPal will enable the RHB customers to use their checking or savings accounts to instantly top-up a PayPal account. Moreover, RHB also plans to launch PayPals Pay Anyone service in the near future, to provide its clients with money transfer capabilities.

By using Pay Anyone, RHB customers can perform fund transfers from their bank accounts to any email address. Furthermore, the receiver can deposit the money into an existent PayPal account or open a new PayPal account for the sum transferred. The new service also allows users to split food bills, pay for rent or course fees as well as carry out money transfers abroad.

According to the comment made on the PayPal blog by Elias Ghanem, GM of PayPal Southeast Asia and India, the partnership marks PayPal’s intention to work with financial institutions in order to expand the reach of its virtual wallet services across new market segments.
