Worlds first from Telenor: SMS turns mobile phone into airline ticket

Telenor and the airline company Norwegian have entered into a partnership that enables customers to order and purchase air tickets for Norwegian flights via their mobile terminals.

The two companies will be the first in the world to introduce this service. Customers will use their mobile phones as tickets at check-in. MobileCommerce is today used to purchase a number of products, ranging from chocolate bars and soft drinks to ski passes and cinema tickets and customers may also use the service to recharge their prepaid subscription cards. More than 500,000 mobile customers have registered as mobile shoppers.
