Western Union launches international mobile money transfer service in El Salvador

Western Union has launched its international money transfer services in El Salvador in collaboration with Luxembourg-based mobile services provider Tigo, a subsidiary of the telecommunication group Millicom International Cellular.

Western Union’s Mobile Money transfer service is set to allow Western Union customers worldwide to send remittances to consumers in El Salvador who subscribe to Tigo’s mobile money service dubbed Tigo Money.

In addition to El Salvador, the Western Union Mobile Money transfer service is currently available in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Kenya, Madagascar, Malaysia, Paraguay, the Philippines, Tanzania, Uganda and the US.

In recent news, Western Union Company was set to design and launch a financial platform for non-profit, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the people they serve.
