U.S. Cellular has implemented Portals product-based billing platform for its wireless data and content services. U.S. Cellular has deployed the Portal solution to support new BREW and 1xRTT services as well as to establish a flexible platform to support future products and services for its more than 4.3 million customers.
Rather than completely re-architecting its billing infrastructure to support new wireless data and content services, U.S. Cellular chose to integrate Portal?s solution within its existing billing system. By leveraging its existing investments, U.S. Cellular minimized resource requirements for its IT staff and ensured customer service levels were not impacted throughout the project. U.S. Cellular customer service representatives (CSRs) are able to access the Portal billing platform via familiar front-end interfaces and existing processes. The result is continued excellence in customer service for a wide range of value-added services with minimized incremental costs. Exciting New Services U.S. Cellular will leverage Portals flexible and sophisticated rating capabilities to build differentiated pricing models for its diverse portfolio of multi-media content, downloadable applications, and high speed 1xRTT data services. U.S. Cellulars advanced digital network will eventually allow for enhanced voice capacity, expanded call coverage, and new data products and services such as productivity tools and picture messaging.
