TrendLabsSM, Trend Micro’s global network of antivirus research centers, identified in 2004 a number of proof-of-concept viruses for mobile phones, such as SYMBOS_SKULLS.A (a Trojan which targets Series 60 phones with the Symbian operating system, particularly Nokia 7610 models) and SYMBOS_CABIR.A (a worm which spreads through BLUETOOTH-enabled Series 60 phones); it is likely that further attacks on such devices will occur in the future. With the arrival of the holiday season, many people will be purchasing or receiving new handhelds as gifts.
