US-based multinational technology company Amazon has entered into a collaboration with TikTok and Pinterest, allowing users to buy products directly from the social media apps.

In a bid to remove the need to leave the app to make a purchase, Amazon partnered with social media apps TikTok and Pinterest, enabling their customers to link their profiles to their Amazon accounts and shop directly from the ads. As detailed by TikTok in a blog post, the company is currently focusing its efforts on commerce solutions that can provide a simplified shopping experience for users, allowing them to buy products however they choose to.

Amazon has entered into a collaboration with TikTok and Pinterest, allowing users to buy products directly from the social media apps.

With both deals working similarly, Amazon's ecommerce business is set to benefit from this move, while also increasing social shopping. In addition, the agreement aims to contribute to TikTok’s development strategy in the US, with the company planning to reach USD 17.5 billion by the end of 2024.

How will users benefit from the partnership?

Following the announcement, TikTok’s users are set to be able to discover and purchase Amazon products directly within the app, with the shopping experience being enabled by the latter via ads. The partnership allows users to see product recommendations on the ‘For you’ feed and, when prepared to purchase, they can choose to link their TikTok account with their Amazon one through a secure one-time set-up process. After this, Amazon customers can complete a checkout without leaving the TikTok app, which works towards supporting a more convenient and efficient experience.

Also, customers who choose to link their accounts in the US are set to receive real-time pricing, Prime eligibility, delivery estimates, and product details on select Amazon product ads. However, if the service is not needed anymore, users can unlink their Amazon account in TikTok’s app settings. Moreover, representatives from the social media app underlined their enthusiasm for the collaboration with Amazon, planning to provide optimised and simplified shopping experiences to customers.

When it comes to Pinterest, the current partnership develops the company’s existing relationship with Amazon, with it already leveraging the latter’s solutions to fill additional ad space. Back in 2023, Pinterest entered into a multi-year ad collaboration with Amazon, intending to bring more brands and products onto its platform, with the move following the addition of ecommerce features into the app.
