Pinterest to add ecommerce features

Friday 8 July 2022 11:33 CET | News

Image sharing and social media service Pinterest has announced it rolls out new shopping and merchant features to make the platform’s shopping experience smoother and more user-friendly.

The news comes after a 215% surge in users’ engagement with shopping surfaces on Pinterest in 2021. The website’s new API feature offers merchants extra management and data capabilities and information, while the product tagging feature allows them to add products to displayed images.

Moreover, merchants will be able to add product videos to their catalogues to showcase their products in depth and help customers make a more informed purchase based on seeing a particular product in motion.

Finally, Pinterest has also announced a new Shop Tab for the business profiles of merchants, enhancing the overall consumer experience and making it easier for brands to advertise and display their merchandise.

With over 436 million users worldwide, Pinterest has recently completed the acquisition of The Yes, an AI fashion shopping service, aimed to create a smoother shopping experience for both customers and merchants.
