As a result, the new app is set to enable O2 Money customers to transfer funds between O2 Money cards irrespective of where either sender or recipient is located. In addition, app users are expected to be provided with a dashboard feature including balance checks and transaction history, as well as with a Google map option featuring the nearest top-up store location and directions on how to get there.
The O2Money service has been jointly developed by O2 and Irish online payment company 3V Transaction Services, the latter providing the operating platform for the offering. The banking partner for the O2 Money service is UK financial institution R Raphael & Sons, which is specialised in card payment services.
The card has been launched in February 2011 and it allows customers to load or top-up their O2 Money card by using their online banking account, accessing any O2 retail store or topping up at 1,500 Payzone outlets nationwide.
Over 15,000 customers have signed up for the O2 Money service to date.
