Wednesday 4 April 2012 14:07 CET | News

US mobile commerce platform provider ROAM Data has completed the development of a device- agnostic card reader with near-field communication and magnetic stripe technology dubbed NFC Swipe.

The NFC Swipe is set to work on smart phones, tablets and PCs, turning them into mobile POS devices. The card reader is set to be compatible with Visa payWave and MasterCard PayPass and work with ROAM’s card acceptance applications ROAMpay X, as well as those of its partners. ROAM Data is also set to provide an API for third parties building its own applications to leverage the NFC Swipe reader.

Roam Data is set to launch the NFC Swipe commercially in mid-2012.

In recent news, US-based online ticketing services provider Event Farm has launched its mobile events application powered by ROAM Data.
