PayPal, NCR team up for mobile payments services

PayPal has entered an agreement with global technology company NCR Corporation to integrate the PayPal checkout option into NCR’s mobile application and services for restaurants and other retailers.

Under the agreement, PayPal will be a checkout option within NCR’s Mobile Pay app, which allows restaurant-goers to place orders, call their waiter and checkout from their phones.

Initially, NCR will integrate PayPal’s payments in restaurants, gas stations and small convenience stores. The deal will also let NCR put its marketing service within PayPal’s mobile apps, which will give consumers access to coupons and special offers when they check-in to stores.

The NCR Mobile Pay service is designed for restaurants that use NCR Aloha point-of-sale (POS) technology, enabling cloud-based credit card processing on mobile devices. The service allows patrons to “favorite” an item, re-order items, alert a server, provide feedback or get an emailed receipt. NCR Mobile Pay is accessible by a website or a QR code, provided by the restaurant’s server, which takes users directly to the check on their mobile browser.

In recent news, PayPal has revealed plans to expand its payment service to more brick-and-mortar retailers, including RadioShack and Dollar General stores.
