NetSpend, LevelUp team up for mobile payment services

Friday 16 November 2012 10:10 CET | News

US mobile payments start-up LevelUp has entered a partnership with NetSpend, a US-based prepaid debit cards provider, to provide incentives to consumers who link their NetSpend prepaid cards to their LevelUp accounts.

Consumers using LevelUp can use their phones to make payments at merchants across the US. By linking their NetSpend prepaid cards to their LevelUp accounts, NetSpend cardholders are set to receive a UsD 10 credit to their LevelUp accounts.

NetSpend delivers general-purpose reloadable prepaid debit cards and related financial services to the 60 million underbanked consumers in the US. For its partners, NetSpend offers services including a proprietary processing platform, card fulfillment, customer service and risk management capabilities.

LevelUp provides an iPhone and Android QR code mobile payments application for consumers and a terminal system for merchants to process payments. Users “unlock” loyalty credit when they use the LevelUp app to spend a certain amount of money at a business.

In recent news, LevelUp was set to make its payments application available at the KFC Yum Center in Louisville to allow consumers to pay for goods and purchases at concession stands with their mobile devices.
