Mississippi Department of Revenue launches mobile tax app

Monday 24 June 2013 07:00 CET | News

The Mississippi Department of Revenue has launched a new mobile tax application which allows citizens and businesses to pay their taxes using a credit or debit card. The mobile tax app equips department agents with mobile devices to take citizen’s tax payments.

When a revenue agent visits a taxpayer with a delinquent tax liability, the agent provides credentials identifying themselves as agents of the Department of Revenue. After the agent responds to required questions concerning the debt, the application allows the taxpayer to pay their tax, on the spot, through the State’s official payment solution.

The Department of Revenue mobile tax application joins a number of self-funded services created for the State of Mississippi through its partnership with official e-government solutions provider Mississippi Interactive, which began in 2010.
