Hypercom awarded PCI PTS 2.1 certification for M5000 m-payment terminal

US-based payment technology company Hypercom’s M5000 mobile payment terminal has achieved PCI PTS 2.1 certification, the payment security standard formerly called PCI PED.

Launched in December 2010 , Hypercom’s M5000 mobile payment terminal presents an integrated contactless reader that is set to enable merchants to accept any type of card payment on a permanent basis. In addition, the system supports GPRS and Bluetooth connectivity and meets PCI PTS and EMV requirements

The system’s processor provides a touch screen that is set allow users access to any payment app. The user interface includes icon-based integration with inventory management or menu ordering systems. Additionally, the M5000 includes a software development toolkit.

Hypercom’s M500 pilots program is expected to begin in the summer and fall of 2011. The mobile payment system targets the needs of hotels, cafés and restaurants, as well as mobile merchants.

In recent news , Hypercom has entered a partnership with Venezuela-based electronic payment network Inversiones Platco.
