Green Dot launches GoBank mobile bank account

US provider of prepaid financial services Green Dot Corporation has launched the GoBank bank account which can be opened and used on mobile devices.

Each GoBank account includes a checking account with a linked Visa debit card and a second integrated bank account called the Money Vault that`s designed to be an easy way for GoBank members to put money away for savings. GoBank allows members to use Slide for Balance on the app`s login screen to check their available balance without logging in. Additionally, members can send money to friends and family at no through email, text message or a private Facebook notification. Recipients don`t have to be GoBank members to receive the money. Members can also deposit cheques by snapping a photo through the app and they can use a debit card to transfer some money from another bank account.

Green Dot is a publicly traded bank holding company which provides banking and payment services to US consumers. Green Dots products and services include its General Purpose Reloadable (GPR) prepaid cards and its cash transfer network which are available to consumers online and through a network of approximately retail stores across the US.

In July 2012, UniRush, a US card issuing company and provider of the prepaid Visa RushCard, has entered a distribution agreement with Green Dot to issue the retail version of the RushCard and make the product available for sale by select Green Dot retail partners across the US.
