Five Indian utility providers partner Money on Mobile for direct carrier billing

India-based mobile payments company Money on Mobile, a subsidiary of US-based electronic payment processing services provider Calpian, has completed formal direct bill payment integration arrangements with five Indian utility providers covering a total customer base of approximately 25 million consumers nationwide.

The five Indian utility providers are Bihar State Power, Reliance Energy, BEST Electricity, Mahanagar Gas and Tikona. These new integrations allow consumers to pay monthly utility bills using their cell phones through the Money on Mobile network of approximately 157,000 retail stores.

In recent news, Calpian has acquired the assets of payments company Pipeline Data and has formed a new subsidiary dubbed Calpian Commerce.
