Finnet is expanding its IP backbone network with Ericssons Packet Backbone Network (PBN) solution, equipped with Juniper Networks routing products. The network expansion will enable Finnets networkoperator, Finnish 2G Ltd., to handle increased data traffic while increasing the networks reliability and availability. The new IP network transmits voice, data and multimedia services at speeds of up to 10 Gbit/s. Ericssons PBN solution for Finnish 2G includes Juniper Networks routing products and related maintenance services provided by Ericsson. Ericssons PBN offering also includes network management and professional services. Juniper Networks products are well-suited for new and extended IP networks requiring scalability, high capacity and the delivery of new IP services. Construction began last spring, and the network has been in commercial service since summer 2003.
