Ericsson wins GSM/GPRS expansion contract with Mobtel in Serbia

Serbian GSM operator Mobtel has signed a contract with Ericsson valued at EUR 115 million to expand and upgrade Mobtels GSM 900/1800 network. Ericsson will provide hardware, software and telecom services for the network expansion.Under the contract, Ericsson will provide hardware and software expansions of the core network, radio network and microwave transmission network, as well as expansion of the GPRS packet switching technology equipment and enhanced mobile multimedia functionality for new service offerings, e.g. streaming. With a turnkey responsibility, Ericsson will provide a comprehensive portfolio of telecom services. Ericssons expertise in network design, deployment and integration as well as software upgrades will support the transition to advanced multimedia services. Under the contract, Ericsson will also provide support and maintenance services.
