Ericsson supports MTG media group with payment solution

Thursday 28 April 2005 05:17 CET | News

Ericssons Internet Payment eXchange (IPX) solution for content payment has attracted a strategic sale to Modern Times Groups (MTG) mobile content service, ZooMobile. MTG is the largest free-to-air and pay-TV broadcaster in the Nordic and Baltic regions.

The Ericsson IPX solution supports MTGs introduction of its ZooMobile service (www.zoomobile.se), which is being rolled out in Sweden and Norway. ZooMobile portal users can download ring-tones, games and videos, as well as footage from popular TV programs on MTGs Viasat channels, such as Fame Factory, Top Model and Club Goa. The contract includes a complete IPX solution, comprising billing and mobile premium and non-premium connectivity via SMS, MMS and WAP. IPX makes it possible for MTG to charge for mobile content, regardless of which operator the consumer uses. Users can conveniently pay for a wide range of services via their regular mobile phone bill or prepaid subscription. The operator benefits from increased traffic and billing revenues, as well as lower administration costs, while consumers get an easy way to purchase and pay for new services. Ericsson IPX reaches more than 360 million mobile subscribers in 15 countries around the world, with new markets being added monthly. IPX is a non-branded, white-label service.
