Ericsson, Aconite partner for mobile contactless payments

Friday 1 June 2012 14:42 CET | News

Global mobile telecom company Ericsson has entered an agreement with Aconite, a UK-based provider of mobile application management and EMV transaction processing solutions, to provide application issuers with a service that delivers and manages applications for consumers NFC (Near Field Communications) enabled mobile phones.

Under the agreement, the new service is set to be based on the integration of the Aconite Mobile Application Manager with the Ericsson Trusted Service Manager (TSM) service, through GlobalPlatform standard interfaces.

The new service is set to enable issuers to create a security domain within the secure element in the NFC handset and to load, personalise, update or delete applets on that domain. Issuers are also set to be able to transfer data between their security domains within secure elements and Aconite Mobile Application Manager, in order to manage payment transactions, EMV scripts, prepaid top-ups as well as other transactions.

The Ericsson Trusted Service Manager (TSM) allows service providers to distribute and manage their contactless applications remotely. The TSM is provided as a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and follows GlobalPlatform standards.

Aconite helps card issuers, processors, retailers, payments service providers and transit authorities minimize their EMV migration risks and maximize the return on their EMV investment. The company operates in Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia and the Americas.
