Germany-based telecommunication services provider Deutsche Telekom has selected US online mobile payments company Boku for the latter’s direct carrier billing service to allow its subscribers in Germany to pay for digital and virtual goods and services using their existing wireless accounts.

Under the agreement, Deutsche Telekom customers can access the portfolio of BOKU merchant partners to purchase digital goods and services, including virtual goods found in online games, digital goods and Facebook credits. Customers enter their phone numbers to checkout and respond via SMS to confirm the payment. The charge then appears on their wireless bills.

In recent news, Boku has raised USD 35 million in a funding round led by investors NEA, Andreessen Horowitz, Dag Ventures, Index Ventures and Khosla Ventures and which also includes Spanish telecommunication services provider Telefonica.
