Customers of Hypo Oberösterreich can now connect their current account directly to Bluecode and Bluecode-enabled apps and make cashless payments in thousands of shops across Austria using their smartphones.
According to a Bluecode representative, with Bluecode, the purchase amount is debited directly from the current account without an intermediary bank or credit card systems. The Bluecode app displays a blue barcode that users can show at the checkout. The checkout staff scan the barcode contactlessly and there is no need to enter a PIN at a payment terminal.
