Xiaomi plans to launch ecommerce service in India

Tuesday 5 May 2020 13:11 CET | News

China-based electronics manufacturer Xiaomi has announced it will launch an ecommerce service to enable Indian customers stuck at home purchase its products from their local retailer.

The new service, called Mi Commerce, will be launched across India, Xiaomi's biggest market outside China. As stated by Yahoo.com, this will allow consumers to browse online products available at a store close to their home and place orders, while delivery will be done by the partner merchant. Furthermore, Xiaomi aims to supply working capital loans to its partners through its credit offering.

However, due to the COVID-19 lockdown, Xiaomi's sales have decreased, as ecommerce websites such as Amazon and Walmart's Flipkart suspended sales of mobile phones to focus on deliveries of household items. Yet, the company plans to continue its service even after the lockdown if it is successful.
