Spatialand develops software tools that let creators transform existing content into virtual reality experiences. The startup has worked with Walmart before in the Store No. 8 incubator.
The terms of the deal have not been disclosed and companies’ representatives have declined to comment on what types of projects they will be working on. It is very likely, however, that the acquisition made by Walmart will work towards developing augmented reality and virtual reality experiences.
Store No. 8 is an innovation hub created and sponsored by Walmart to develop ecommerce technologies. Some of the projects focuses on enhancing the personal shopping experience, as well as, developing a cashierless store similar to Amazon Go.
