Singapore Airlines rolls out live inflight online store

Thursday 24 June 2021 14:00 CET | News

Singapore Airlines has created an online store under its KrisShop brand featuring more than 4000 items.

According to Internet Retailing, the initiative comes in partnership with AirFree, Thales, and Panasonic Avionics. Thanks to the launch, travellers are enabled to purchase and pay for the goods on their entertainment touch screens and have the goods delivered to their next flight or sent to their homes.

Furthermore, the KrisShop ecommerce platform will launch on 28 June 2021, and will be initially available on selected Airbus A350 aircraft, before being progressively rolled out across the airline’s network. The shoppable goods include categories such as beauty products, fragrances, electronics, liquor, and airline merchandise – all at duty-free prices.

Overall, the launch comes to improve the customer experience, as the demand for ecommerce shopping grows more and more. Besides, an additional benefit might be a potential reduction of onboard weight during flights, reducing energy costs, Internet Retailing reported.
