Tuesday 18 October 2011 14:56 CET | News

E-commerce platform Shopify has raised USD 15 million in a Series B funding session from Bessemer Venture Partners, FirstMark Capital, Felicis Ventures and Georgian Partners. The new investment adds to the USD 7 million in Series A funding which Shopify has gathered in 2010.

The company plans to use the new capital to expand its team, consider strategic acquisitions and create a fund to fuel its App community.

In addition to this funding, Shopify has also launched The Shopify Fund. This fund is meant to encourage and finance developers to create e-commerce add-ons that plug into the Shopify platform.

In august 2011, Shopify has also partnered Zibaba to provide its customers with the ability of creating a Facebook store.
