PayPal requested Edelman to conduct a study mapping Brazilians' daily online spending routine. The survey included 1,000 online shoppers from all regions of the country aged between 18 and 55. They separated the daily spending into segments such as meal delivery, market and pharmacy, mobility and fuel services, streamings, and games.
They found that the security of online payments concerns 65.4% of customers, which falls to less than 41% when the purchase uses a digital wallet. Over 62% of the surveyed prefer to use mobility and transport services rather than their own car – and 64.7% believe that these means of transport are properly sanitised and disinfected. Among the respondents, over 88% intend to continue paying online for urban mobility even post-pandemic. Furthermore, about 88% say they can better track urban mobility expenses when they pay online or via apps. Credit cards are the main means of payment for these services (71.4%). This is followed by debit cards (57.1%), Pix (34.7%), digital wallets (31.6%) and cash (14.4%).
