Meesho raises USD 300 mln in Series E funding round

India-based social commerce startup Meesho announced that it has raised USD 300 million in a Series E funding round.

The round was led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2 with participation from Facebook, Prosus Ventures, Shunwei Capital, Venture Highway, and Knollwood Investment, giving the startup a valuation of USD 2.1 billion.

According to TechCrunch, Meesho operates an eponymous online marketplace that connects sellers with customers on social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram. Its offerings include order management, taking care of logistics, online payments, real-time shop updates, and allowing businesses to get their customers to subscribe. The funding will be uses to assist individuals and small businesses in India sell online.
