IBM has inked a contract with David Jones, a department store group, to provide the latter with a retail solution.

Under the terms of the agreement, IBM will develop and integrate David Jones’ web design, online application development, social media, analytics and reporting services. In addition, the company will also provide back-end capabilities for orders, inventory management and sales fulfillment.

Via the multi-channel e-commerce platform developed by IBM, David Jones’s customers will be able to research, purchase or return goods using their preferred channel, including their mobile devices, online or in- store.

Most recently, IBM joined the Bank Industry Architecture Network (BIAN), a technology association focused on designing a service-oriented architecture standard in the financial industry.
