The study has also estimated that from the total amount of money spent for holiday shoppings, EUR 17.5 billion will be spent during the first two weeks of December.
According to IMR’s research, there will be 240 million European consumers to make purchases online on 2011 holiday shopping round. Furthermore, as a result of this number of online shoppers, almost 600 million parcels will be shipped.
The results have also pointed out that the number of people who shop online varies depending on the country. In France and Italy, 60 percent of consumers shop online, as compared to 50 percent in Germany and Spain and only 23 percent in Poland. The UK has the highest percentage with 70 percent on consumers who make their purchase over the internet.
Taking into account the results of the recent study, IMRG and IMRWorld have estimated that the electronic commerce market will be worth almost EUR 675 billion by the end of 2011.
According to Google, the number of global internet users will reach EUR 5 billion by 2020.
