DHL Parcel has announced investments of EUR 350 million until 2024, which will be used for two new central sorting centers and the construction of 26 new CityHubs in the Netherlands.

In addition to these investments, DHL announced in May 2021 that it would increase the wages of deliverers employed by DHL from EUR 12, to EUR 14 in 2024. The 26 new CityHubs to be built are located on the edge of urban areas, enabling the 'last mile' to be carried out in a sustainable way via electric delivery vans, cargo bicycles or other small vehicles.

The 26 new CityHubs to be built will be located in several Dutch cities including Amsterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, Leiden, and Rotterdam. In the summer of 2021, the fleet will be expanded with 500 electric delivery vans and in 2025, the entire last mile fleet should be emission-free nationwide. In October 2021, a new national sorting center will open in Utrecht.
