E-commerce software publisher Commerce Guys has raised USD 5 million in a funding round led by French venture capital firm Alven Capital. Other participating companies included Finland-based Open Ocean Capital and France-based ISAI.

The company will use the new capital to employ 30 people, half in the US and half in the UK and France.

Commerce Guys has revealed plans to focus on Drupal Commerce, an open source content management system which the company’s retailer clients use for their online stores. The platform allows online retailers to perform a range of tasks including uploading catalogues, accepting payments and integrating with shipping services.

Drupal Commerce is an e-commerce platform using the capabilities of the content management platform Drupal 7, including features such as fieldable entities, views and rules.
