China: quality regulators initiate cross-border ecommerce platform

Chinas quality regulator has approved a cross-border ecommerce platforms in 5 different cities, such as Hangzhou, Ningbo in Zhejiang and Pingtan in Fujian.

The trial program allows ecommerce companies to purchase foreign goods in bulk and store them in bonded warehouses, cri.cn reports.

Chen Fang, regulator at the Quarantine Bureau in the city of Hangzhou, states that the program is aimed at regulating the foreign goods market. By collecting foreign goods in domestic bonded warehouses, regulators are able to inspect the goods more properly.
