Amazon rolls out daily deals e-commerce software

Tuesday 7 June 2011 13:07 CET | News

Global e-commerce company Amazon has launched AmazonLocal, a daily deal program powered by its existing e-commerce software, in partnership with e-commerce website LivingSocial, the Groupon competitor which Amazon has invested in, online media outlet zippycart.com reports.

AmazonLocal is set to aggregate deals from other providers, such as LivingSocial. Amazon Local stores deals purchased by customers in their Your Deals section to enable customers to earn points for the money they spent on the website.

In December 2010, Amazon made a large strategic investment in LivingSocial. On 2 June 2011, Google has launched its Offers beta program in Portland, Oregon. Google Offers will enable subscribers to gain access to daily deals at local businesses. Google Offers functions like the daily-deal business model used by Groupon and LivingSocial. Users will receive daily an email with a Google Offers coupon.
