Bottomline Technologies acquires Allegient Systems

US collaborative payment, invoice and document automation services provider Bottomline Technologies has agreed to acquire Allegient Systems, a US provider of capabilities for legal e-billing, bill review and analytics.

As a result, Bottomline Technologies is expected to add Allegient’s Software as a Service (SaaS) platform to its Legal eXchange portfolio. The all-cash transaction is valued at USD 48 million and is subject to closing balance sheet adjustments.

The transaction is expected to close in April 2011.

In a recent and related development, Bottomline Technologies has acquired UK-based payments-management software provider Direct Debit.
