Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank adds 3D Secure on BillPay websites

UK-based Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank has introduced 3D Secure on its BillPay websites. 3D Secure is also known as MasterCard Secure Code and Verified by Visa online authentication service. The tool has been designed for cardholders protection against unauthorised use of their debit or credit cards online.

The BillPay service is an option targeting organisations issuing bills, which was launched in July 2000 and more than 200 bill issuers now use the service. The service is used by Her Majestys Revenue & Customs (HMRC) as well as utility companies, local authorities, housing associations and debt collection agencies.In 2007, over 1.9 million online bill payments were made by business customers via the site, representing a year-on-year increase of more than 70 percent.
