Financial services provider Swedbank has selected Dutch digital security company Gemalto to deploy its global identity management system based on Protiva service.

Gemalto will provide Swedbank with the Protiva converged badge service based on PKI, a technology for online identity authentication. The service includes a server platform and software applications for a complete card management. It also includes deployment support and maintenance services, personalization and fulfilment services based out of Gemalto’s Stockholm offices, as well as card renewal services. Additionally, the Protiva corporate badge will also enable email encryption and eSigning.

Implemented initially in Sweden, the service is deployed across the Baltic countries, as well as in a number of smaller representative offices internationally.

In recent news, financial services provider ING Belgium has entered a partnership with Gemalto to deploy the latter’s Ezio suite of authentication services.

Gemalto delivers electronic passports and identity cards, two-factor authentication devices for online protection, smart credit/debit and contactless payment cards, as well as subscriber identification modules (SIM) and universal integrated circuit cards (UICC) in mobile phones.
