Digital identity service to be designed by Mastercard and Republic of North Macedonia

Friday 14 February 2020 11:35 CET | News

Mastercard has released plans to launch a range of digital solutions, in collaboration with the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia.

The reasons behind this is that they are aiming to enable the citizens to prove their identity when accessing government and business services, as well as to boost the country’s digital economy. Moreover, the partnership is expected to facilitate the provision of local digital identity and other services including digital document signing and verification.

As per IBS Intelligence, the customers will be enabled to use e-KYC for supporting remote opening for new bank accounts, without visiting a branch in person, and new prepaid and postpaid mobile phone accounts. Open collaboration with governments, banks, mobile network operators, universities, and other partners will be promoted, in a bid to shape the services.
