Bank of England to test banks cyber-resilience

Tuesday 3 November 2015 11:10 CET | News

Following a series of attacks on the UK’s financial institutions, the Bank of England has revealed plans to start testing the banks’ cyber-resilience.

Banks will be subject to a series of fake attacks, aimed at identifying weaknesses in their network. Any gaps found in the defence of the UKs finance industry will be addressed.

The operation, called Resilient Shield, will be coordinated by the UKs Computer Emergency Response Team, CERT - UK, the team devoted to managing major cyber-security incidents in the UK. The tests will also include US banks and test the communication between governments and financial institutions.
