Asia: Citi rolls out new ATM with biometric capability

Monday 28 January 2013 13:36 CET | News

Financial institution Citi has introduced in Asia a new automatic teller machine (ATM), dubbed Citibank Express.

The newly released ATM features a biometric capability, online banking connection and video-conferencing, for customer identity authentication purposes. Using Citibank Express, customers will be able to complete almost all types of banking activities including opening accounts and applying for loans, cards and cashier’s checks, without visiting a branch. Additionally, it connects physical and digital banking channels, allowing customers to carry out a transaction on a computer or a mobile device and complete it on Citibank Express and vice versa.

Other features include near field communication capabilities as well as scanning and embossing functions to enable future roll-outs of functions including instant printing of credit and ATM cards.

New machines are already being installed in Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines, while installation at in-branch and out-of-branch locations across Asia and globally will follow later in 2013.
