The White House to sign executive order on cryptocurrencies

Thursday 10 March 2022 12:31 CET | News

According to reports from Bloomberg and Reuters, US President, Joe Biden, is set to sign an executive order regarding the government’s strategy on cryptocurrencies.

The order will allow federal agencies to consider regulating altcoins and cryptocurrencies, including considering the national security and economic implications of digital assets. The White House has been reportedly working on the order since 2021 but will likely see acceleration giving the Russian invasion of Ukraine and concerns from companies on how to handle their crypto assets.

The White House has been under increased pressure with the sanctions imposed by the US government in Russia to further involve in setting policies and regulating digital assets.
