The initiative follows the deal closed by the two companies in December 2007, under the terms of which JCB cardmembers will be able to use their JCB credit cards for purchases at nearly 3,500 Vietin Bank merchants by March 2011.
Statistics released by the Vietnam tourist bureau indicate that the number of Japanese visiting Vietnam has increased by 21 percent, from 320,000 in 2005 to 390,000 in 2008. JCB International is the international operations division of JCB, a Japanese payment brand.
