Trusted Labs will play an active role in the evolution of interoperable smart card specifications and will also support GlobalPlatform’s efforts towards developing an open compliance ecosystem. The company will also be part of GlobalPlatform’s Advisory Council, provide input to both the mobile and government task forces and will have voting privileges in matters that come before the membership, according to a press release. Trusted Labs also collaborates with bank, telecom, healthcare and transportation workgroups to deliver security standards to manufacturers.
In December 2009, GlobalPlatform introduced the GlobalPlatform Card Networked Framework v1.0, which is relevant for mobile network operators whose networks are IP-based and for government smart card programs as it offers communication between cards and the back-office systems. In other news, Eastcompeace Smart Card, a vendor specialised in the design, development and delivery of smart cards and smart card based solutions, joined the international specification body as an observer member.
