The readers are compliant with the German Seccos TAN standard, and are used together with a Seccos card to generate One Time Passwords (OTP) and Challenge/Responses for remote authentication. The three readers are also compliant with the German e-purse standard GeldKarte, and displays balance and transactions of a GeldKarte purse. Todos also has support for Seccos TAN in its backend system Todos eCode Central System, which handles verification of One Time Passwords and Challenge/Responses, personalisation of data generation, key management, and customer support. The system is compliant with Seccos TAN as well as Mastercard SecureCode. The HSM of the backend system, an IBM 4758 crypto co-processor, has been approved by German ZKA for operation as a security module, and the independent test-institute TNO, has made a high level risk assessment of the whole eCode System.
