RFI strengthens Smart Card Services and expands Security Evaluation team

Tuesday 18 November 2003 02:40 CET | News

Radio Frequency Investigation Ltd (RFI) has appointed Teresa Gillman senior security evaluation engineer expanding its smart card security team.

Teresa has in-depth programming experience in financial applications and most recently has worked in the UK and the United States developing smart card secure back office products for MasterCard International and Mondex International Ltd. Future applications of mobile phone technology are likely to encompass financial transactions, and one aspect of Teresa?s work involves researching the security of wireless payments. Since 2000 RFI has become a key player in the smart card industry and is recognised by Visa International for its smart card and terminal and risk services. It is the only company in the UK currently working at such an advanced level of knowledge and technology. Brian Watson RFI?s development director responsible for developing RFI?s smart card business believes that this growing market is one which RFI must be involved in. Further enhancing its stake in the industry RFI has become a member of the Smart Government Forum set up last year. The Forum is to help the Government meet its target that by 2005 all public services will be available electronically and that smart cards will play a significant role in the overall modernisation programme. It brings together as members all the stakeholders including public sector participants and the technology supply community in order to seek the best solutions and practices.
