Wednesday 1 December 2004 22:52 CET | News

Japanese Mizuho Bank will make available automated-teller machine cards with integrated-circuit chips in next March for all customers holding a total of 28 million regular savings accounts to help prevent counterfeiting.

The new cards will have other advanced functions such as digital money and a point system. The bank will ask its customers to replace their current cards, the officials said. The bank is expected to charge customers for the replacement.
