Wednesday 8 October 2008 16:52 CET | News

Financial service provider Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) is granted principal member status in MasterCards payment system and is thus allowed to issue cards on behalf of the international payment processing company, develop related products and negotiate card issuing agreements with other local banks.

As a result, GCB launches its first range of MasterCard debit cards which includes several debit products aimed at individual and corporate clients: the MasterCard Standard Debit, the GCB Gold Debit MasterCard and GCB Corporate MasterCard. Bank officials express their hopes to add a line of credit cards in addition to the already existing debit products on Ghana’s financial market and thus develop a local payment infrastructure which allows international transaction processing.
