BMI Bank introduces chip-enabled Visa-branded debit card

BMI Bank, a Bahrain-based financial services provider, has launched a chip-enabled Visa debit card, in order to complete migration of ATM cards to Chip and PIN technology, AME Info reports.

The banks debit card customers are to receive chip and PIN debit cards, which have increased security features. Chip and PIN cardholders are to authorise transactions by entering a unique PIN at the point of sale instead of signing a receipt. BMI Bank has also converted all its credit cards to chip and PIN, according to the project roll-out. The bank representatives have stated that customers will be able to use the cards in over 24 million ATMs and service establishments around the world.
