Austrian fintech NumberX and Mastercard launch app-based payments card

Thursday 18 March 2021 14:06 CET | News

Newly launched fintech NumberX has announced a strategic partnership with Mastercard to launch an app-based payment card based on an open banking principle.

The new fintech company NumberX offers users to link all their current accounts to the NumberX app for billing purposes and set a monthly spending limit. NumberX automatically allocates payments to the correct current accounts, but these can also be split between several accounts and allocated to another current account after a payment has been made. Unused budget from previous months is automatically transferred to a savings account upon request and is also available if required.

The NumberX Mastercard can be used to make cashless payments worldwide without hidden costs and withdraw cash free of charge, which is made possible by a new flat-rate model. NumberX is an app-based Mastercard for iOS and Android devices with numerous features not offered in this form by traditional banks. In addition to a virtual NumberX Mastercard, users also receive a physical payment card that supports the most common mobile payment systems. NumberX can be used free of charge during a trial period, after which there are no further fees apart from a monthly flat rate. The market launch of NumberX in Europe is planned for April 2021, initially in Germany and Austria.
